William "Red" Holzman

Red was a graduate of City College of N.Y. where he played under the legendary Nat Holman. He guided the Rochester Royals to three world titles in 1945-46, 1946-47, and 1950-51.

When Red was nearing the end of his career with the Royals, Owner Coach Les Harrison always had Holzman alongside him on the bench. When Holzman talked, Harrison listened.

As Coach of the N.Y. Knicks for 14 years, Holzman turned around the franchise winning two NBA Championships. Inducted into the Nasimith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1986, Red joined former Royals-Harrison, Davies, Cervi and Wanzer as well as his own superstars Willis Reed, Bill Bradley, Dave DeBusschere, Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe.
