Earl Marine
The late Carl Beghold, basketball coach at Monroe High School during the 1940s said, “Earl Marine is the smartest player that I have ever coached.” The Rochester native led Monroe High to the city championship in 1945 and the sectional finals, losing to Hornell. Captain of the Red Jackets in his senior year, the Monroe High point guard was named to both the Democrat & Chronicle’s and the Times Union All Scholastic teams.
Earl also played on thr Red Jacket’s soccer and baseball teams and later played basketball for Rochester Business Institute and on the JYM&WA team in the industrial league.
Unfortunately, Earl passed away unexpectedly, just before his 1998 Induction.
