Joe (Bello) Snyder

Bello was of the most outstanding basketball players to ever come out of Rochester. He was a star at Franklin High, the JYMA, the Newark Elks and the Rochester Ebers.

Bello had an uncanny two hand set shot from any position on the court, just listen for the swish. In the years he played for the Ebers, often the teams would score only 35-40 points. Bello had games were he scored 31 of 35 total point, 35 of 40 total points and 32 of 35 team points. He was a fearless clutch shooter.

He went on to start and run Camp Eagle Cove for decades. He also arranged numerous summer basketball camps for children. He was a legend in his own time, remembered by an entire community.
