Dr. Ronald Kwasman

Dr. Ronald Kwasman, a practicing dentisit, has been imersed in the sport of rowing for more than a half centuary, beggining as a member of the varsity crew at Columbia Univesity, then rowing for an army eight in Germany, later becoming the founder of the Rochester Rowing Club, then rowing coach for the Univesity of Rochester and the Rochester Museum and Science Center. He was also instrumental in forming high school rowing clubs in Brighton, Pittsford, and the Cith School District.

Now (2002) the chairman of the board of the Genesee Waterways, Dr. Kwasman has led endeavors to build rowing facilities on Irondequoit Bay, the Genesee River, and the Erie Canal. The Brighton resident’s developmental work on the Genesee and the canal has also led to improved facilities for canoeing, kayaking, small craft rowing, and outrigger canoeing. Dr. Kwasman still rows at least once a week.
