Craig Tesler

Craig was an outstanding soccer, baseball and basketball player. He won letters in soccer, baseball and basketball at Brighton High School in the early 1970’s, earning All County soccer designation in 1972 and All County designation in baseball in both 1972 and 1973. In 1971, he led the Barons to the sectional title in baseball and in 1972 to the runner-up position. At Bowling Green State University, he played soccer at the Div. I level for four seasons, winning honors as the Most Improved Player in 1976 and served as the team’s captain in both 1975 and 1976.

In 1973, he was the recipient of Sports for Israel’s Ira Sapozink Award (since changed to the Lester B. Harrison Award) for outstanding athleticism and scholarship. In soccer he played sweeper, a key defensive position, and in baseball he was a fixture at third base and an outstanding power hitter. He batted .363 as a senior at Brighton.
